Definition: sound absorption defined by the Sabine reverberation-time equation

NOTE 1 – The Sabine reverberation-time equation is:

T= ( 24ln10 )V cA = 55,3 cA V MathType@MTEF@5@5@+=feaagCart1ev2aqatCvAUfeBSjuyZL2yd9gzLbvyNv2CaerbuLwBLnhiov2DGi1BTfMBaeXatLxBI9gBaerbbjxAHXgarqqtubsr4rNCHbGeaGqipG0dh9qqWrVepG0dbbL8F4rqqrVepeea0xe9LqFf0xc9q8qqaqFn0lXdHiVcFbIOFHK8Feea0dXdar=Jb9hs0dXdHuk9fr=xfr=xfrpeWZqaaeqabiGaciGacaqadmaadaqaaqaaaOqaaiaadsfacqGH9aqpdaWcaaqaamaabmaabaGaaGOmaiaaisdacaaMc8UaaeiBaiaab6gacaaMc8UaaeymaiaabcdaaiaawIcacaGLPaaacaWGwbaabaGaam4yaiaadgeaaaGaeyypa0ZaaSaaaeaaimaacaWF1aGaa8xnaiaa=5cacaWFZaaabaGaam4yaiaadgeaaaGaaGPaVlaadAfaaaa@4B29@

where:
T is the reverberation time, in seconds
V is the volume of the room, in cubic metres
c is the speed of sound in the air contained in the room, in metres per second
A is the sum of all Sabine absorptions in the room, in decibel metre-squared.

NOTE 2 – The unit of Sabine absorption is the decibel metre-squared, sometimes known as the metric sabin.
