linear time-invariant transfer element in which the value of the output variable is proportional to the time derivative of the input variable

Note 1 to entry: The transfer function of a derivative element is given by

$\frac{V (s)}{U (s)} = K_{D} \cdot s$

where

K_D is the derivative action coefficient;

s is the complex variable of the Laplace transform;

U(s) is the input transform;

V(s) is the output transform.
