Definition: production process for conductors, where the superconductor is formed from its precursor(s) in its final position in the conductor

Note 1 to entry: Cu/Nb or Cu/V mixtures in which Nb or V dendritically form from the melt are processed into wire or tape to give fine internal filamentary forms of Nb or V in a copper matrix, and Nb3Sn or V3Ga are formed by the diffusion process.

Note 2 to entry: The in-situ process also includes a production process of a superconducting thin film grown in a single step process.

Note 3 to entry: The in-situ process also includes a production process of MgB2 wires in which a mixture of magnesium and boron powders or their powdered compounds are filled in a metal tube with heat treatment for reaction after the drawing.

Note 4 to entry: This entry was numbered 815-14-14 in IEC 60050-815:2015.
