Note 1 to entry: The degree to which maintenance is within the scope of durability will vary by product or product group.
Note 2 to entry: The end state can be based on technological, social or economical aspects.
Note 3 to entry: Durability shall be expressed in units appropriate to the item concerned, e.g. calendar time, operating cycles, distance run, etc.
Note 4 to entry: Durability quantified as a measure relates to the longevity of the interval from first use until the defined end state.
