Note 1 to entry: In English, when the radio station is a space station, only the term “transponder” is used.
Note 2 to entry: In English, the term "transponder" has a different meaning in satellite communication (see IEV 725- 14-02), in underwater acoustics (see IEV 801-32-36) and in railway signalling (see IEV 821-08-16).
Note 3 to entry: In French, the term "répéteur" has a different meaning in transmission (see IEV 704-05-01, in telephony (see IEV 722-03-11), in local networks (see IEV 732-01-20) and in a train communication network (see IEV 811-37-90).
