		quantity of dimension 1 equal to the ratio of the maximum possible magnitude F_{t max} of the friction force between two solid bodies with zero relative speed in the surface of contact, to the magnitude F_n of the normal force, thus μ_s = F_t max / F_n NOTE 1 The friction force is the tangential component and the normal force is the normal component of the contact force between two bodies at relative rest, so not yet sliding. NOTE 2 The tangential force F_{t max} is greater than the tangential force F_t for slow relative speed.

		grandeur sans dimension égale au rapport de la norme maximale possible F_{t max} de la force de frottement entre deux corps solides en l'absence de vitesse relative dans la surface de contact, à la norme F_n de la force normale, soit μ_s = F_t max / F_n NOTE 1 La force de frottement et la force normale sont respectivement la composante tangentielle et la composante normale de la force de contact entre deux corps au repos relatif, donc ne glissant pas encore.
